Animal Farm: Interrogation Concept Art by MurderousAutomaton
Animal Farm: Interrogation Concept Art
More concept art for Steppenwolf Theatre for Young Adults' production of Animal Farm, from the infamous interrogation scene!  The hen, pig and cow are in a bad place right now...

Animal Farm: Concept Art
FOUR LEGS GOOD!  TWO LEGS BAD! ;p

I thought I would share some of the sketches I recently did for Steppenwolf Theatre for Young Adults' production of George Orwell's Animal Farm!  It just finished a great run!  Myself and fellow Shanghai Low house artist Fred Baxter provided some concept art, and it was a lot of fun.  You can see more on Steppenwolf's website: www.steppenwolf.org/  and on the Shanghai Low Theatricals official site: www.shanghailow.typepad.com/

The show was great!  Shanghai Low Theatricals founding member Steve Pickering wrote the adaptation, which was fantastic!  You can check him out too on Shanghai Low's site, and you can see my bio and more of the concept art I've done for other projects as well: shanghailow.typepad.com/home/t…

Creepazoids: Series 1 by MurderousAutomaton
Creepazoids: Series 1
Happy Halloween!!!  Sorry I went AWOL again, but I wanted to make sure I at least popped in to share a Halloween drawing.

As a kid, some of my favorite toys where mini-figures, like Battle Beasts, Monster In My Pocket, and so on.  I always wanted to design my own line, so in that spirit, I present the Creepazoids!  Totally not an actual toy line, but fun to pretend it is. ;p

ThreadBare by MurderousAutomaton
ThreadBare
Fall is coming, so it's time to draw something Halloweeny!  ThreadBare here is an old character I thought it'd be fun to redesign!  As a voodoo doll, it seemed like she should look decidedly more "voodoo" in nature, and a skeleton pin sidekick couldn't hurt, either. ;p You can see her original design here (as she looked in 2005): murderousautomaton.com/misc_no…

Greetings, humans! I'm a robot trapped in a human's body. Someday my mechanical bretheren will come to Earth to enslave mankind, but until then, I'm just gonna make some weird artwork.

Current Residence: Earth
Favourite genre of music: Hard rock/weird stuff
Favourite photographer: I'm not as familiar with photography as I should be, but i really like Ansel Adams
Favourite style of art: Art deco, German expressionism, film noir, anime, video game art
Operating System: Windows
Favourite cartoon character: Raphael, Snake-Eyes, Invader Zim, Dib, Filbert, Ren and Stimpy, Bender, Dr. John Zoidberg
Personal Quote: "Destroy all humans!"
Interests
Greetings, humans!

First off, sorry for the recent dA neglect!  My robot armies have been busy in other galaxies, plundering and squashing puny mortals.  You know how that goes.

Secondly (and not to make every point in this journal an apology...), for anyone attending Wizard World Chicago who was going to stop by my table, sorry I wasn't able to make it!  Turns out my publisher didn't attend, so I had no booth space.

HOWEVER, I will be signing comics, selling artwork and giving free high-fives Wednesday, September 17th at Graham Crackers Comics in DeKalb, IL.  I'll be there from noon till probably about 8:00, and I'll have plenty of free bookmarks and postcards on hand to give away.  Hope to see you there!  Check their site out: www.grahamcrackers.com/dkstore… If you've never been, the store is fantastic!

We'll be featuring the recently released issue #4 of The Revival at the signing, and you can see more on Hound Comics' website: houndcomics.com/the_revival_co… And, as always, thanks to everybody faving my art and watching me!  I'm still trying to find time to thank you all personally. :D

Over and out,
TOM

Hi Mister Murderous Automaton,
I just wanted to say I've got my hands on an advance copy of the "Dieselpunk Retrofutures Of The All-American Art Deco Years" upcoming book and I can't tell you how happy and proud I am to see us both featured in that same new opus. I was the one who directed Ian from Graffito Books to you and your great artwork and that was most certainly one of the best things I did this year!
Best from Paris,
Stefan

Hello, Stefan!

Wonderful!  I can't wait to see the book!  It's certainly an honor to be a part of such a cool project, especially with such talented artists as yourself!  I wasn't aware that you had recommended me--thanks so much!  I really appreciate it!  They told me you were part of the book, but I didn't know you had brought me in! ^___^ I had also recommended our good friend rodolforever, but they said he was already included!  I had a feeling you directed them to his work as well. :D Thanks again, sir!  I'm so excited to see the book!

Cheers,
TOM

My pleasure, Tom. To make an art book with graphics about "The Retrofutures Of The All American Art Deco Years" without you would have been a complete nonsense!

Howdy, sir!  Yeah, still trying to keep up.  The project we're working on just got kicked up a notch, so it's gonna be a busy month!  I've also got a signing for my comic at a comic book store coming up soon, so that'll be fun! :la: How have you been?  Has the new semester started?
