Strawberry Shortcake and WilyKit, from my post-Apocalyptic 80s toy storyline.
Shortcake's the humorless leader of the Rebellion against Brainy Smurf. Never far from her is Kit, a strange, cat-like child found near her dead twin brother after the war. She's emotionless and mute, but follows Shortcake everywhere she goes.
Wow. I am simply floored by your ideas here. They are nothing short of incredible.
I could almost see an uneasy alliance between Shortcake and the Crow-weilding master of the Keep on top of Porkupine Peak who, because of the loss of his own sister to Brainy, allows the rebels to use it as a safehouse just because it's the only way to hurt Brainy's activities.
Wow, thanks! I really had a blast designing these characters--I'm an 80s toy nut. Myself and several other writers are actually turning it into a graphic novel, and I'll be drawing it. Stay tuned for more! I want to start posting art for it here on dA.
Ah! I hadn't even considered putting The Peculiar Purple Pieman in there, but that's got potential! Though as the story goes on, it becomes clear that they're not "literally" the 80s characters, but are references to them. That is, 'Tater is not literally Mr. Potato Head, but a short, stocky man with bad skin who earns the nickname 'Tater, since he resembles a potato. It'll be a lot of stuff like that.
So this particular world is more of a reflection of 80's toys than a LITERAL version... that certainly gives you leeway. I can hardly wait to see how the Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, might come out. [link] (They were one of my favorites from that era)
no worries. In regards to my costume, on account of money and time, I never had the chance to put together that costume for this year. My dream now is to do it for next year's NYComicCon and convince my friend to go as Rainbow Brite.

Also, you might be interested to know that I've started making this story into a graphic novel (with this character as the lead)!
