Creepazoids: Fluorescent Wasteland

We get it, Tom.  You miss the '90s.

But hear me out!  I've referenced '90s toys a lot, but never really delved into an aspect of '90s pop culture I find particularly fascinating: its advertising.  It was a period in which advertisers had to appeal to Generation X, who were disaffected and catching on to their tricks, so the answer was to reject all convention and just go as crazy and random as possible, resulting in incredibly bizarre commercials composed of vignettes of random nonsense.  Day-glo colors, strange camera angles, extreme close-ups, southwest/desert imagery, marble sculptures... these are just a few weird things that seemed to show up in tons of ads and products.  Over time it felt as if they all took place in some mystic, surreal dimension--and I like to affectionately call this world the Fluorescent Wasteland.
